late 1960s handcrafted Love, Melody patchwork denim outfit made of Levi's Big E jeans

Back around the Summer of Love in San Francisco a young woman named Melody Sabatasso was making custom outfits for herself and her friends out of old Levi's she'd taken apart and reconstructed. She would stud and rhinestone them by hand and when Laurel Bacall spotted a patchwork dress shed made herself and and asked Melody to make her one, Melody hitchhiked with her sewing kit and a stack of denim to Ms. Bacall's San Francisco hotel room and made the dress for her on the spot. In lieu of a traditional garment label she grabbed a red marker and signed the inside "Love, Melody" and she continued making her one-of-a-kind masterpieces for musicians, artists and fashion elite.
